Red Curry Salmon and Red Lentils

May 6, 2012 by Joan Nova in Asian, Finishing Touches, Fish/Seafood, Recipe Development, Vegetables | 21 Comments

The path one (alright, me/aka FOODalogue) takes to presenting a plated dish is oft times convoluted. Witness this one.

A few factors along the path to Red Curry Salmon and Red Lentils:

  • I saw a delicious salmon burger on my friend Greg’s Sippity Sup. It made me drool.
  • It also induced me to pick up a piece of salmon when I was at the market the next day.
  • Except for the salmon (and the inspiration), we pause here to U turn from Greg’s recipe.
  • I had a container of red lentils leftover from another meal.
  • I thought the inclusion of lentils called for some South Asian flavors.
  • I started chopping, concocting and mixing.
  • Wanting to keep it pure – I added no filler to the salmon and lentils although I did chill it in an attempt to keep it molded …
  • Burger FAIL.

No problem. We just plate it differently and enjoy it anyway!

It was wonderful!

  1. Well, I guess this was destined not to be a burger but it looks great the way you plated it. The red curry sauce on both the salmon and lentils sounds really appealing…even at 8 am. :)

  13. I love simple, healthy dishes like this one that don’t require many ingredients but still pack a lot of flavor. This would be ideal for a newer cook to prepare but with the flavor of someone who knows their way around the kitchen!
