Culinary Tour 2010 • Puerto Rico Round-Up

Well, mis amigos, the time has come to say ‘hasta la proxima” (until the next one). We’ve eaten our way through Mexico, Nicaragua, Colombia, El Salvador, Brazil, Argentina, Jamaica, Haiti, Cuba and Puerto Rico. We learned about new cuisines and cultures different than our own — and we made some new blogging friends. Muchas graciás a todos…for your contributions, support and comments along the way. I had a wonderful time. I hope you did too.

Here’s the last round-up.

Lara of The Lab gave us a peek at the history and the beauty of La Isla del Encanto. She made Pan de Mallorca.

Norma of Platanos, Mangoes and Me, who I introduced in my blog about PR, provides the recipe for Sierra de Escabeche (Pickled King Fish).

Natasha of 5 Star Foodie made a very popular dish, Alcapurrias, which can be found at roadside stands, in home kitchens, and restaurants across the Island.

Erica of My Colombia Recipes made another Puerto Rican specialty, Mofongo (fried and mashed plantains), with Shrimp Creole.

Andrea of  Family + Food made Arroz con Dulce (rice pudding) and jazzed it up with coconut milk and  mango garnish.

Anamaris of Chef It Yourself made Pan de Mallorca and took it over the TOP by stuffing it with bacon and cheese — and then a dusting of powdered sugar.

Oz of Kitchen Butterfly brought us 10 things to do with Puerto Rican Meatloaf (the 10th being up to you).

And, what better way to end the tour? Here’s Besitos de Coco and  Golden Sunset, a delicious candy and sweet beverage from my loyal travel companion, Cinzia of Cindy Star in Lake Garda, IT.

Many, many thanks to all. Hasta la proxima!
