This is titled “another” because I posted A Colorful Brunch about 6 weeks ago, with totally different items.
This time, brunch was served the morning after a big party…so I made Virgin Mojitos. I’m not a big believer in “the hair of the dog that bit you.”
I muddled lime, mint and simple syrup and then mixed it with chilled water. It was refreshing and everyone liked it.
Come check out the menu.
Virgin Mojito. Muddled lime, mint and simple syrup (sugar + water)
Caprese Salad. Fresh mozzarella and tomatoes over baby romaine lettuce dressed with freshly pulsed basil, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic.
Mushrooms sauteed with basil pesto and balsamic glaze
Crabmeat Quiche starring fresh lump crabmeat, gruyere cheese and topped with toasted panko, ground almonds and crumbled bacon.
Chorizo Hash Browns (leftovers were delicious the next day when I served them with fried eggs on top.)
Apple, pear, golden raisin and dried plum compote served with mini banana-nut muffins
A perfect meal has multiple levels of flavor and textures, bright colors and tastes, and healthy(ish) choices. It's all about enjoyment. Enjoy the process, the presentation and the just rewards...eating!
I've always been a culinary improvisor which means I get my kicks out of recipe development. In the FOODalogue kitchen each meal is an adventure and the journey is as exciting as the destination. My favorite kitchen tools are imagination and intuition. I rarely look at a recipe, not even my own!
On these pages, I suggest food pairings and techniques to be experimented with...in your own kitchen...to your own spice levels...and to your preferred portion sizes.

This is a very elegant brunch! GREG
That is certainly a very colorful brunch. I’d like to have some of the chorizo hash browns, plese
A perfect brunch, all the flavors that I expect in brunch are there and them some. The caprese salad is such a great idea and nice for Christmas as it has the right colors. I love the virgin mojito idea too. I don’t like to drink so early in the day but would like a fancy drink as that. I love these posts you are doing on entertaining, very inspiring.
Fantastic brunch, I especially like the sound of a crabmeat quiche!
Joan, when and if I visit Florida next year I want to have brunch at your place! All of this is beautiful! The quiche and hash browns are my faves!
Peter – You tell me the date and I’ll slap the apron on!
can I join too? I mean if Peter and you agree; because a) all that food looks delicious (and you two may not finish it all) b) you two are wonderful cooks and photographers and I would LOVE to meet you two!
besos
ps. oh, but I’ll have a full loaded mojito.
Por supuesto!!!
I agree with Heidi…full loaded mojito….everything is beautiful as usual….thanks
Looks terrific! I’m sure the food tasted as good as it looked.
That crabmeat quiche looks fantastic!!!Great brunch menu,Joan!
What a feast, everything looks great esp the crab quiche!
This hinges more on lunch than brunch but it’s so inviting. I still want a full-blown, rum-soaked Mojito!!!!
So where exactly did you say you lived? Because I’m definitely going to be gatecrashing your next brunch! Everything looks superb – am especially loving the virgin mojitos. Nicely done!
