Take out your sombreros…shake your maracas…slap your conga…and get into a Latin vibe because A Culinary Tour Around the World is going South of the Border! We’re headed to Mexico, Latin + South America and a few Caribbean Islands.
Since we’re quickly approaching the holiday season and we’ll all be busy, this is a ‘save-the-date’ notice. Embarkation is scheduled for January 11, 2010.The first stop is Mexico, a colorful country that has so much more to offer than tacos, burritos and the Mexican Hat Dance. Qué viva Mejico! After that, we will visit El Salvador, Nicaragua, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Jamaica, Haiti, Puerto Rico and Cuba. 10 weeks on the virtual road.
Cook’s Choice. Last year, we prepared a ‘national’ dish of our choice at each destination. I thought I’d shake it up a bit this year for you (and me) so I’m creating “Cook’s Choice”.
Details. A final itinerary and further information will be posted towards the end of the year. Meantime, if you want to start researching the various cuisines, váyanse! (go for it).
In 2009 we visited 13 countries in 13 weeks and provided about 130 recipes for our readers. To revisit those countries for a taste of the local cuisine, click here.

Perhaps you’ll join us at one of the stops…
Oh Joan, could you believe it? I was thinking about you and your culinary tour this morning while driving … and here you are!
Think that we have friends in Miami in these days and we were supposed to be with them, but … we are not … hope to have another chance in the future, I was there in 1981 and enjoyed very much my stay!
I will certainly travel with you to the South, no doubt!
Nice! I have some recipes from South America that I’ve been meaning to prepare and this will be a great opportunity. I am saving the dates already
And we’re starting with Mexico and I know you’ve got plenty of recipes from there!
Hope I can travel along with you this time.
This was so much fun armchair travelling with you last year Joan.
Excellent! I’m thrilled with the culinary tour destination as I am planning a chilies tasting menu with Nuevo Latino /Latin fusion style. I’m probably going to do this dinner in November but I will give me a good start for the cuisine style and I will be sure to come with the new dishes after the holidays!
Ah yes Cuban, Mexican and other Latin countries the cooking I am most fond of and am best at
